MY WORK EXPERIENCE AT THE INDEPENDENT

A few years ago I did some work experience for The Independent Newspaper's fashion department. Here I got to experience a little insight into the world of fashion journalism. As well as fashion shoots and shows. I was lucky enough to work alongside fashion journalist, Harriet Walker who actually attended the same secondary school as me here in Sheffield!

During my time at The Independent I was organising returns (on some amazing designer pieces), organising look books, helping set up fashion shoots and calling fashion PR's (which I found very scary!).

I'd say I found this experience extremely helpful and exciting. Helpful in the fact that I became much more confident and knowledgable in the field of fashion and a lot more experienced in the 'big wide world of work'. Just being in London itself was fantastic, I've always been a sucker for the capital; there's just something about the atmosphere of the city that i just seem to buzz off! So obviously, having myself live and work there for a short period was amazing! I also feel very lucky to have got such a great work placement at such a young age, and very privileged to have seen all the clothes, shoes, accessories I was working with everyday.
